A year ago today, my life was normal.
A year ago today, the character known as Alastor was nothing more than an abstract concept in my mind tied to a song one of my best friends introduced me to on a roadtrip I took with her back in August of 2023.
A year ago today, I was wrapping up edits on a standalone book I'd titled Doctor Love. (Still forthcoming, I swear!)
And then?
All Hell broke loose.
So what happened a year ago today? If you're here, you know damn well what happened a year ago today: Hazbin Hotel premiered on Amazon Prime.
I actually had like a couple more weeks of peace in my life because I didn't watch the first episode until early February, for reasons I can't recall. And then the wheels fell off the vehicle of my creative life. Well, you all know what's happened to and with me since then because of this show. It was nice to take a few moments to reflect on how much things have changed for me because of this show that premiered a year ago today. I remain forever grateful to those involved with Hazbin Hotel for creating something that has brought me (and a great many others) so much joy and distraction over the past year. Grateful that it brought us together.
The weeks continue to be challenging for me to work on the next installment of Alastor's and Grace's tale.
I got myself Invisalign and while it's gotten better, I'm still so preoccupied most of every day with these GODDAMN TRAYS IN MY MOUTH. Thankfully my course of treatment is relatively short and should be done before July.
I also got a new pet who was shipped and arrived over a week earlier than I anticipated.
She's adorable, but also a snake. So if you're cool with snakes and wanna see her, click here.
Fic update: Trudging along at 68,054. I'm in chapter 21 of 27 and the wheels are juuuust about to come off that, too. Art imitates life, right? No, wait ...
Anyway, I don't have a sneak peek to share today. But I'll leave you with this: if you enjoyed the text exchanges in the first story, hold on to your ass. There is a group chat and a very nosy, no-sense-of-personal-boundaries Overlord in the next one. :)
Until next week, deer friends!
