In an effort to move away from Meta-owned businesses, one of my besties introduced me to Signal. Signal is an app that is similar in many ways to Messenger but with the added perk of being able to put whatever the hell you want for your chat background (and each party within the chat can choose their own background). So speaking of hell backgrounds ... mine is Alastor. (OooooOoO sHocKiNg.)
And, well ... things got a tiny bit out of hand in our chat this week:

I've been sick as all get out this week. And just when I thought I'd turned the corner, my fever broke, etc., etc. ... I got so much worse. Ended up taking a couple days off work (I almost never call off two days in a row and freaked out at least a couple people in doing so). Resting hasn't helped me recover.
So I had several days this week where I just lay in bed and didn't move except for the necessary things. I either slept or watched my comfort shows or wrote. (I totally should have moved on to reading Leather & Lark rather than watching TV. Bad Jewel! BAD!)
I'm not sure how much of what I've written is actually coherent (that's for Editor Me to sort out down the road LOL) but ... I wrote.
So to the two of you who voted for 85k and 90k in the "guess the final word count" poll a few blog updates back...
The fic is at 90,441 words and counting. (For those keeping track--and I'm so glad I am!--that was 11,000 words IN A WEEK. Grace and Alastor do things to me. I never write this much this quickly, holy crap!)
I'm on chapter 26/29 (and there may be a bonus chapter because why the hell not?) with the goal of finishing the primary content by or before Valentine's Day.
So in the interest of meeting that self-imposed deadline, I'm going to wrap up this post.
Until next week, deer friends!

I can’t totally abandon meta because of family, but I’m so happy to learn that there are other apps out there so I can at least cut back my usage
I can’t wait to read more! I hope you get feeling better soon! I’ve honestly been looking into getting the signal app but don’t really have friends to do that with. But I’m so glad there’s another book coming. :)
